Stations of the Nativity: An Advent Journey

The music ministry of Georgetown Baptist Church is excited to invite you to join us for a very special Christmas musical celebration, ¨Stations of the Nativity: An Advent Journey.¨ Stations of the Nativity is a unique Covid-adjusted experience featuring many of our beloved musicians and ensembles leading us through the Christmas story. You and your family cluster (up to 8 individuals) can sign up for a time on Friday, December 18 or Saturday, December 19, to travel through the church building station by station led by a shepherd-guide to hear the Christmas story told through music and narration. The journey will last approximately one hour (six stations). We are also making plans to record the performances and post them online for those who prefer not to attend in-person.

About

The Toy Store is a ministry of Georgetown Baptist and Gano Baptist Churches. We offer this ministry to families who would benefit from a reduced cost on Christmas gifts for their children but still want to purchase their own gifts. As local churches, we love our Georgetown community and deeply believe that God calls us to show love, respect, and dignity to our neighbors. God loves you, and we hope you feel God’s love in this ministry.

Shopper Safety & instructions

This year’s store will look a little different from previous years. In order to limit numbers in our store and maintain safety, we will limit our store to one family/group at a time.

Shoppers must wear masks.
Volunteers will wear masks and sanitize the store periodically.

Someone from the church will be in touch with each shopper the week before the store to assign an arrival window. This will help space out the crowd. Times are negotiable.

  • When you arrive for your shopping time at Georgetown Baptist Church, please park in the small rear lot on Clinton St.

*Clinton St. is a one-way street. Enter from Broadway and look for directional yard signs.

  • Remain in your car.

  • A volunteer will come check you in at your car and lead you into the building when we are ready for you.

  • Adults only if possible during shopping.

The Toy Story is completed for the 2020 year. Thank you.

Volunteers & Toy Collection

Wanna get involved? Great!

Donate Toys by:

  • Purchasing a toy for a child ages 0-14, and bringing it to a drop off bin at Georgetown Baptist or Gano Baptist.

  • Donating money for the church to purchase toys. You can do this by mailing in a check or giving online. Make sure to list TOY STORE in the Memo Line!!

Work the Toy Store:

More information and registration coming soon. Volunteers must register to work the store this year and must wear a mask during their volunteer shift. More safety information to come.

Treat Street: A Drive-Thru Halloween Experience

Treat Street logo.jpg

Join us on October 25 for a Trunk or Treat alternative.

Dress up in your Halloween costume & drive through our parking lot of decorated trunks.
Receive pre-packed candy bags at no-touch drive-thru stations.
Vote for your favorite trunk.
Listen to festive tunes on 93.7FM along the way.

The Route

Treat Street is located in the church’s large parking lot, located between the church and Georgetown College.

The Drive-thru begins at the Mulberry St. entrance to the parking lot.

Join the line on College street, heading west toward Broadway. Traffic attendants and lawn signs will help direct you through the route and invite you to tune into 93.7FM for music and instructions.

Volunteers

We need your help…and your trunk! There’s lots of ways for everyone to help make Treat Street a fun and festive time.

  • Register to decorate your trunk. (You will not be passing out candy from your trunk)

  • Register to direct traffic.

  • Register to pass out goody bags at designated treat stations. (These bags will be pre-packed, and you will be asked to wear a mask and gloves.)

  • Contact Pastor Heather to help pack goody bags in advance. (A good option for those who are staying home.) Email heather@georgetownbaptist.org or call the office.

  • Donate pre-wrapped candy. Bring donations to the church breezeway (off the small back parking lot) by October 22.

See our FAQs for more volunteer details!

Safety Measures

We want everyone to be safe this Halloween. That’s why we are doing all that we can to create a festive, socially distanced Halloween experience. Our safety measures are one way we follow Jesus’ command to love our neighbor as ourselves. Here’s the plan:

  • All volunteers will be masked and socially distanced.

  • No candy will be handed directly from trunks to children. All goodies will be pre-packed in bags and handed to cars on trays in a no-touch drive-thru fashion.

  • Any volunteer handling goodies, whether packing or passing out bags, will wear a face mask and gloves.

  • Trunks will be spaced out with empty parking spots between all cars.

  • Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles as they drive through Treat Street.

July 27-31

A missions camp for completed 4th & 5th graders.

Join us for a week-long summer missions camp, with some special 2020 twists.  Our theme this year is "Be My Neighbor."  We are going to focus on being followers of Christ through service to those who live closest to us.

This year we will do a mix of video calls, individual projects, and one in-person day of camp.  We will assign daily service projects and provide a few supplies ahead of time.  Here's a schedule overview:

9:00 am Video Call: Devotional Time
9:45 am Service Projects: students work on the day's assigned service project in their own neighborhoods
12:15 pm Video Call: Debrief, Lunch, and Virtual Games

*One day, likely Friday depending on weather, will be in-person at the church and community garden.

Register here to participate and contact Pastor Heather or Pastor Tim with questions.

Project Parables

Project Parables logo.jpg

Calling all children age 4 - completed 5th grade.     June 15 - July 13.

Join us this summer for Project Parables, a 5 week remote summer camp that explores some of Jesus' most famous parables through video stories and a variety of weekly activities.

To participate, you must register on georgetownbaptist.org

Registrations will now go on a waitlist. We would love to include you if we can. We will contact you soon.

About Project Parables

Each Monday a new parable story video will be uploaded to multiple viewing platforms.  Registered families will receive a list of 4+ activities to go along with each week's parable.  Some supplies will be common household items and others will be provided via a pickup location at the church.  Activities are designed to serve a variety of ages and learning styles.  Your family can do all 4 activities throughout the week or choose one or two that interest you.  Some can be done independently too.  There will also be ways to share your family's creations and communicate with other campers.

We want to keep everyone safe this summer by observing social distancing.  Unfortunately that means we will be postponing our usual VBS activities until we can be together in a large group again.  But we can still learn together and have fun! Hope to see you at Project Parables: A Remote Summer Camp.

Participant Information

Parable Videos

All of the Project Parables videos will be posted to the Georgetown Baptist YouTube channel and Georgetown Baptist Church Facebook page. Every Monday from June 15 - July 13, a video will post at 9 am. You can view each Parable at any time in the week. Be sure to watch the parable before you start the activities.

Activities & Supplies

Activity instructions will be included in your supply kits as print copies. They will also be emailed in PDF form to the email address you provided on the day of supply kit pick-up.

All of the “Church Provides” supplies will be included in your supply kits. We plan for 3 supply kit pick-ups. This will allow us to ensure that everyone who wants to participate can receive supplies in a timely fashion.

Pick up your supplies from the Georgetown Baptist Preschool Building front porch on the pick-up dates below. Pull up to the curb and we will bring you your supply kit. We will be masked and likely in silly costumes too, just to make it more fun!

Pick-up dates:
Sunday, June 14 4:00-6:00 pm (Week 1)
Saturday, June 20 4:00-6:00 pm (Weeks 2-3)
Sunday, July 5 4:00-6:00 pm (Weeks 4-5)

If you are unable to make the pick-up time, we will leave your supply kit on the Preschool Building Porch for you to pick up and try to connect with you via phone.

Inasmuch Day: Spring 2020

OperationInAsMuch.jpg

This Spring’s OIAM is a little different as we consider social distancing. Instead of gathering together on a specific date, we are engaging in a season of service as individual households.

Choose a service project for yourself or your household and choose your own timing to do it in. Send us of photo of you serving so that we can include it in our slideshow. We will wrap up our Season of Service on June 7 with a celebratory slideshow of all of these photos.

Send your photos to Christie Bray by June 4 @ (575) 491-9208 or christie.bray@scott.kyschools.us

If you have a need, please contact the church or Christie Bray. We would love to connect you with someone wanting to help. If you want to serve, you can choose your own project, do a project from the ideas below, or contact the church or Christie Bray to be put on a list to serve any needs we hear about.
